Huertas De La Magdalena
Duration: 2 hours with rests
Elevation: 133m (436ft)
Walking Difficulty: low
Our most local local walk on the retreat, enjoy a gentle circular hike to this charming hamlet for the best panoramic views of old Trujillo
We return through olive and holm oak forest to old Trujillo, where we visit the city’s 9th century castle for a view from above, then stroll on to the town square for some well-deserved refreshment

Santa Cruz De La Sierra
Duration: 3+ hours with rests
Elevation: 379m (1243ft)
Walking Difficulty: low – medium
Country walk around the hamlet of Santa Cruz for panoramic views of Trujillo and final optional ascent to Pico De San Gregorio
Explore the remnants of its Moorish citadel and enjoy unparalleled vistas of the surrounding sierras; low flying vultures and a golden eagle or two further reward your efforts

Monfragüe Biosphere Reserve
Duration: 3+ hours with rests
Elevation: 227m (745ft)
Walking Difficulty: low
Straddling the river Tagus, the park is a haven for indigenous flora and fauna, with up to 340 bird species settling here yearly
We walk gently and steadily up to Monfragüe Castle where you’ll be greeted by low flying Black Vultures and Golden Eagles an d enjoy panoramic views of the river and park. Then stroll to the hamlet of Villareal De San Carlos for a spot of lunch

For practical and safety reasons we select the location and timing of our walks to catch the best conditions according to season and weather for all our walking retreats

Day 1: Arrive
Transfer from Madrid’s Adolfo Suarez International airport to your hotel

Days 2 - 5
Yoga
Start your day with a soothing and invigorating yoga class, with activities including
- dynamic warm-up
- classic yoga poses
- posture and movement work
- breath work
- mindfulness and
- relaxation
The classes run for 2 hours and are suitable for all levels from beginner to expert
Lunch
Our main meal of the day, lunch is substantial. We serve freshly home-cooked vegetarian fare, including eggs and dairy by default, but can easily accommodate vegans
Post-lunch you may want to have a snooze, lie by your hotel pool or walk off those calories with a stroll within the City, or beyond
Yoga Hiking
Days 1, 3 & 5 *
Walking is a great way to practice mindfulness, enjoy being in nature and get fitter and healthier
We organize 3 hikes, each different in character so you can enjoy a variety of terrains
Walks last between 2 and 3 hours, with suitable breaks. We walk at a lively, but leisurely pace so you can enjoy our surroundings, and not just race to your destination
All walks involve some hill walking on uneven terrain, so please bring suitable foot-wear
A light shower-proof jacket, hat and sun shades won’t go amiss. Binoculars for wildlife watching are a plus. A camera is essential
(*though unusual in practice, the exact days and times of the walks may differ to catch the best weather conditions)
Yoga & Mindfulness
Days 2 & 4
Mindfulness is giving your attention to what is happening right here and now, and is a key part of yoga´s therapeutic effectiveness
We explore different ways of cultivating mindfulness through practices such as body-scan and guided deep relaxation and mindful walking, of course
Supper
Supper is light and buffet-style so you decide how much to eat before retiring
On non-walking days we invite you to take an evening stroll with us – an age-old Spanish tradition known as el paseo, always followed by a night-cap
Day 6: Return
Round off your walking adventures with some yoga self-practice
then a full-blown veggie brunch

- 30 days prior to the start of your booked event for a €100 admin fee
- Cancellations made after 30 days are non-refundable. You will be able to transfer to a future event, subject to a €100 admin fee.
- In addition your hotel may charge you some of the cost of your stay, depending on the hotel’s cancellation policy
We will ensure that you are fully aware of your hotel’s cancellation policy at the time of booking

What Should I Bring To My Yoga & Walking Holiday?
Clothing
We schedule our walking retreats for the spring and autumn when temperatures are mild
You can never rule out a shower, so please bring a showerproof jacket
Evenings in early spring and late autumn can be fresh, but it’s always warm in the sun, so do bring light clothing plus a warm jacket
Walking Accessories
Supportive, waterproof shoes with a decent grip are essential for walking in all weathers.
A brimmed hat to keep the sun off your eyes, and a small rucksack for water and a snack won´t go amiss
Binoculars for wild-life spotting while walking are a plus. We provide hiking sticks and brollies for your convenience
